Design of Website
The parent streaming service’s website is awfully designed. With a few splashes of color, the design is primarily in grayscale. Each channel has a color that goes with it. Orange is, of course, Nickelodeon t’s color. The top menu is disorganized.
The channel can be chosen via a dropdown menu that features the Nickelodeon logo. The VRV emblem is prominently displayed in the menu’s center. There are symbols for the watch list, search, and profile on the right. Unfortunately, unless you click on the symbols, you won’t really understand what they mean. I initially mistook the watch list for a sign indicating that I should view the entire library.
A highlighted program with the description text as its major focus is located below the main menu. I would prefer that the image be the main focus and that the description appear when the user hovers over the image or leaves the text off until they click on the show. The limited selection of NickSplat television programs is listed beneath that.
The feed does not appear to have any sort of rhythm or flow. The show’s categories are not arranged alphabetically on the home page. Popular and Updated seem to be the only real categories. When you click on see all, the shows are sorted alphabetically even though browsing them from the main page may appear chaotic.

This website’s desktop version is not a pleasant experience. On the one hand, the website’s layout is quirky and quite boring. However, the films do not lag and the audio quality is respectable. This webpage falls somewhere in the middle of things overall. The desktop navigation is difficult to understand.
You are sent to a webpage inviting you to download the app and establish an account when using the parenting company’s mobile browser, VRV. I was offered a 30-day free trial when I clicked on the Nickelodeon channel, but I instead downloaded the app.
Like the host website, the mobile app to view NickSplat is referred to as VRV. Bright yellow, black, and white make up the logo. My first impression of the application is favorable. When I made my account, I discovered a cool feature that let me shake my phone to generate a random username. Some of the ideas were brilliant, and the icon art was fantastic.
