Click-to-Run is Microsoft’s virtualization and streaming technology that cuts the time it takes to install Office and helps you run multiple versions of Office on the same computer. If you disable the Click-to-Run service, you will not have access to Office applications.

If there is an error with Microsoft Office 365, first check whether the Click-to-Start service is working or not.

Open the Run command by pressing Windows + R, typing services.msc, and pressing Enter. This command opens the Service Management Console.

Now find Microsoft Office Click-to-Run service, right-click it and select Properties.

In the General section, set the Startup type to Automatic and start the service.

Close all Microsoft Office Click-to-Run Process

If you experience the same problem, try using the Task Manager to end all Office Click-to-Rn processes.

Open the Task Manager by pressing Alt + Ctrl + Del, clicking the Processes tab, finding Office Click-to-Run Process, and clicking End Task.

End all Office related Task. Then Proceed to the next Method.

Repair Microsoft Office

If the above methods didn’t solve the problem then Repairing MS Office will fix the problem.

Open the Run command by pressing Windows + R and typing appwiz.cpl. This command opens programs and functions.

Under Programs and Features, look for MS Office and click Change.

You will now get a pop-up window with two options: quick fix and online.

If that doesn’t solve the problem, try the Quick Repair first, then choose Online Repair.

Re-Install Microsoft Office Program

If repairing Office doesn’t solve the problem, you must first uninstall Office, then delete all the registry entries in the Office registry, and then reinstall.

To uninstall, go to Programs and Features, then select Uninstall.

Delete Office Registry Entries

Open Run command and Regedit and hit enter to open the Registry Editor.

Now Navigate to the following location.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office

After deleting, close the registry editor and restart the system once.

Reinstall and check the Office programs. This will mostly solve the problem.

Disable Antivirus and Firewall

If you are using an antivirus, turn it off once and check the instructions according to the antivirus policy. If you are using Windows Defender antivirus built in to Windows 10. Then follow the steps below to disable real-time protection.

Go to Start, find Windows Security, and click Windows Security.

On the left, click Virus & threat protection.

On the right, under Virus and threat protection settings, click Manage settings.

Turn off real-time security switches to temporarily disable Windows Defender.
